Emily spricht im Har-Zion-Tempel über jüdische genetische Krankheiten

On January 12th, Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley, PA presented a program entitled ‘“Fitting into Your Genes: Jewish Genetic Diseases — Data, Dilemmas and Decisions.” The discussions covered hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, ethical dilemmas, among other topics. The Victor Center from Einstein Medical Center was onsite to provide screenings for 19 genetic diseases common among people of Jewish descent.

Our very own Emily spoke to the audience about her everyday trials and tribulations living with CF. She also was given a platform to explain that, although encouraged by recent developments like the drug Kalydeco, they are not effective for the mutation that Emily has – the mutation most common in Jewish populations. The event was a wonderful opportunity to bring awareness to CF and other genetic diseases common among Jewish people, and spread the word about Emily’s Entourage.
