Presented to Dr. Taylor-Cousar for her passionate commitment to the final 10% of the cystic fibrosis community that do not benefit from lifesaving mutation-targeted therapies
Lower Merion, PA — Nov. 11, 2022 — Emily’s Entourage (EE), an innovative 501(c)3 foundation that accelerates research for new treatments and a cure for the final 10% of people with cystic fibrosis (CF), including those with nonsense mutations, announced it has awarded Jennifer Taylor-Cousar, MD, MSCS, ATSF, a pediatric and adult pulmonologist at National Jewish Health, with its Trailblazer Award. The award recognizes innovative change-makers in CF research and drug development. It is given to an individual or organization that has partnered with EE and demonstrated courage, tenacity, and out-of-the-box creativity to push conventional boundaries and propel life-saving research advances for people with cystic fibrosis.

Dr. Taylor-Cousar was presented with the Trailblazer Award at EE’s reception, held at NACFC, an annual meeting that brings together scientists, clinicians, and caregivers from around the world to discuss and share ideas on the latest advances in CF research, care, and drug development.
Dr. Taylor-Cousar was presented with the award at EE’s invitation-only reception at the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, in Philadelphia, Penn. The reception was attended by nearly 100 of the top CF researchers, care providers, and industry members from around the globe.
“Jennifer is a compassionate physician, brilliant investigator, highly published author, and fierce advocate for the CF community,” said Emily Kramer-Golinkoff, co-founder of Emily’s Entourage. “I stand in eternal awe of the indescribable impact she makes on the lives of so many people with CF every single day, including mine. It was an honor to present this year’s Trailblazer Award to her.”
Dr. Taylor-Cousar is a tenured professor of adult and pediatric pulmonary medicine at National Jewish Health, where she serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Research Services, President-elect of the medical staff, and is co-director of the Adult CF Program and Director of the CF Therapeutics Development Network center. She has been the site primary investigator on more than 60 clinical studies and the national/global primary investigator on five clinical trials.
Dr. Taylor-Cousar serves on numerous local and national committees, including the Emily’s Entourage Conseil consultatif scientifique. She co-authored a publication of the findings from EE’s 2021 “Final 10%” survey in Pediatric Pulmonology, “A survey: Understanding the health and perspectives of people with CF not benefiting from CFTR modulators."
“I so clearly remember meeting Emily in 2013 when we were both serving on a strategic planning committee…I was immediately struck by her intelligence and great ideas, but also by her infectious energy and resilience,” said Dr. Taylor-Cousar. “I cannot begin to express to Emily what a tremendous honor it is to receive this award from someone who is doing so much to advance research to ensure that everyone with CF has a life-changing treatment option.”
