Voici les champions de l'Entourage d'Emily 2017
Cue the Rocky Theme song— because Philadelphia’s finest champions are only weeks away from hitting the ring. The Emily’s Entourage 2017 Champions Campaign has made it’s way back to Philadelphia and our 18 Champions are working tirelessly to reach (and exceed!) their fundraising goal of $1,500 per team by the annual Evening with Emily’s Entourage Gala on December 2nd. This Champion squad is bigger and better than ever, and they are ready to give CF their best one-two punches! The 2017 team includes high school and college students, husbands and wives, a best friend international duo, and even a seven year old. Collectively, they are crushing goals and the race is on for who will be named the “Emily’s Entourage Philadelphia Champion of the Year”. So let’s get to the main event, and put your hands together, as we officially introduce our 2017 EE Champions.

ROBERT & PAULA BARG

Why Robert Got Involved In EE: “I’ve been lucky to know Emily nearly my entire life, but even after all of these years, I’m still in awe of her confidence, her resilience and her charisma. I want to share her story and her message with those who don’t know her yet (which is a dwindling number of people).”
Why Paula Got Involved In EE: “I feel very devoted to ensuring that all individuals (especially the wonderful Emily) deserve the opportunity to live their healthiest and most enjoyable life. My hope is to help everyone who has lived with CF to breathe a little easier.”

Why Jesse Got Involved In EE: “This year I’ve gotten to a position in my career where I feel like I could realistically raise a significant amount of money, and that’s an opportunity that I’m not willing to waste when the need is so immediate and dire. The poker community has proven itself to be remarkably philanthropic in recent months, and it’s time for me to tap into this resource on behalf of EE.”

Why Joanna Got Involved In EE: “I grew up with Emily and have followed along as EE took off over the last few years. As a mother, I feel deeply connected to the struggle that Emily’s family faces every day and I want to do anything I can to help.”

Why Sarah Got Involved In EE: “I have been a volunteer at the Emily’s Entourage Gala the past three years and thought this would be a great opportunity to become more involved in the organization. Especially now, working directly in the hospital with other people affected by CF, I really want to do everything I can to raise money to help find a cure!”

Why Jessie Got Involved In EE: “Ever since getting involved with Emily’s Entourage at Tulane, I have been inspired by the grit, compassion and ambition of the Kramer-Golinkoff family and am fascinated by the research pursuits of Emily’s Entourage. I want to help Emily and others with orphan diseases to find a cure.”

Intérêts et loisirs : “I am a coffee addict (I think I met my match in Emily!). I’ve always had a passion for helping others and for many years worked as a one on one for children with special needs. I also love photography.”
Why Hayley Got Involved In EE: “That’s probably the easiest question to answer. It’s simple. When I met Emily and Liza I simply fell in love with them. As someone living with a chronic, rare disease myself I feel such a strong connection to the cause of EE. I want to do whatever I can to help try and find a cure to help save Emily and others with CF. I feel so incredibly proud to be a part of EE and to be involved with such a special group of people!”

Why Jessica Got Involved In EE: “I started gaining interest in Emily’s Entourage after seeing Emily and her mom Liza work tirelessly at the Starbucks in Bala Cynwyd. From briefly observing them I could tell how much the organization meant (and still means) to them. Additionally, my cousin, Doug Young serves on the EE Board of Directors and good friend, Larry Kaplan travels the world taking pictures for #WhereintheWorldisEE.”

So even though I won’t be in Philly or the US to fundraise, I am extremely excited about supporting team EE all the way from Australia!“

Why MBA Got Involved In EE: “One of our beloved teachers, Marcia DeSalvo, recently left her teaching and leadership role at MBA to become the Marketing and Project Coordinator at Emily’s Entourage. When the opportunity to become a Champion of Emily’s Entourage, our National Honor Society students did not hesitate to accept the nomination. Our students know firsthand about the challenges and difficulties life can often present and that a strong and supportive community can be the difference in changing a life. Like all members of the Entourage, they want to help make a difference for those facing the challenge of CF.”

Why Chloe & Emma Got Involved In EE: “There are so many reasons why! First, we, together, like to defeat our limits: we need to take up to something bigger than ourselves! Also, we want to make the world realize, first how strong-willed we both are, and to show everyone how strong the bonds of friendship can be. Secondly, we’ve accepted the challenge to make the world understand the importance of individual actions: this world desperately seeks actors, not spectators! Also because we believe it is our duty to make this world a better place to live. Last but not least, of course, because we’ve been deeply touched by Emily’s story: it is one that must not and moreover SHOULD NOT leave anyone indifferent! Plus, Liza has always had such kind words for us!”

Why Alexa Got Involved In EE: “I have known people with CF for my entire life, and now have spent lots of time learning about the disease in school as it has many dental manifestations that effect oral health and therefore will affect my patients in the future. I first learned about Emily’s Entourage as a student at Tulane University, where I became friends with Coby and Julia and attended all of the campus EE events. I was immediately inspired by Emily’s story and how incredible this organization and family is. I’ve stayed up-to-date with EE news, and now that I’m in the city where it all started, it’s important to me to share Emily’s story and get my family, friends, and dental network aware of the groundbreaking work of the Entourage.”

Why Garrett Got Involved In EE: “I started a foundation to protect young people from abuse. But when they’ve already been subjected to the scourge, we try to ignite their tenacity and teach them how to convert their trauma into fuel for the journey. Emily’s story embodies resilience and proves that the spirit prevails. EE transcends the plight of one person and gives hope to countless souls, and mine is one of them.”

Fait amusant : “I take classes in painting and musical theatre and volunteer with my parents. Last year we collected 300 books for kids who didn’t have them.”
Intérêts et loisirs: “I like to use my imagination and make the stories come to life by writing my books. I love to sing, dance and especially write.”
Why Belle Got Involved In EE: “I want to be an EE Champion because I don’t want Emily or anyone else to be going through a sickness that stops them from being able to breathe every day. I want to find the medicine for CF and I want it to be purple. I want to cure Cystic Fibrosis.”
