EE returned to in-person fundraising events in 2022 and 2023, including its annual Evening with Emily’s Entourage gala. Over the past two years, the gala has been held at The Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, a spectacular setting in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. The galas brought together business and philanthropic leaders, young professionals, community members from the greater Philadelphia region, and members of the biotech and life science industries from across the nation united in their commitment to driving critical research for the final 10% of the CF community.
The 2023 gala, themed “True North,” drew inspiration from the concept of the North Star. EE’s singular goal and reason for being is to accelerate breakthroughs for the final 10% of the CF community that does not benefit from mutation-targeted therapies. The True North theme celebrated the progress EE has achieved over the past 12 years in progressing towards that singular goal, with multiple therapies having begun or approaching clinical trials for those in the final 10%.
The 2022 gala, themed “The Flight of the Monarch,” was inspired by metamorphosis, a nod to developments in the therapeutic pipeline for the final 10% of the CF community and at EE. The metamorphosis theme reflected that “transformative change is upon us.”
The gala programs, emceed by Board Member Coby Golinkoff, featured various speakers, memorable keynote remarks by Emily Kramer-Golinkoff, live entertainment, and the introduction of EE’s Champions—philanthropic leaders who have raised money that will help propel EE toward urgent breakthroughs. The galas also included the launch of EE’s highly-anticipated annual campaign videos.
In total, the two galas raised nearly $2.3M with the 2023 event notching a record of $1.3M raised in a single event.
Additional fundraising events over the past two years have included “Team EE” participation in the Philadelphia Marathon and Broad Street Run. A total of 47 runners participated in these races to raise funds and awareness for EE, garnering a combined total of more than $60K.
Community Fundraisers
In addition to hosting its own fundraisers, EE has received support from multiple individuals and organizations that host annual and one-time community events directly benefiting EE. These have included:
There is nobody with a deeper vested interest in fast progress for the final 10% of the CF community than those living with the disease and the people who love them. The CureFinders (CF) Crew was created to provide a space where the CF community can come together in support of EE’s mission to speed lifesaving research and drug development for the final 10% of the CF community. Over the past two years, the CF Crew raised nearly $40K.
