Amarrem os cadarços, equipe EE! 22 corredores correram em direção à cura da FC na Maratona da Filadélfia

We learned a long time ago that the people who power Emily’s Entourage (EE) are the strongest and most tenacious group of humans in the entire world. Nowhere is that more evident than in the ranks of our beloved Team EE. 

The 27th Annual Philadelphia Marathon Weekend took place on November 19-20, 2022. For the 8th year, EE was proud to have a group of 22 runners who braved the frigid air to support EE’s  mission to accelerate lifesaving breakthroughs and a cure for the final 10% of the cystic fibrosis (CF) community. 

During Philadelphia Marathon Weekend, runners take part in an 8K, half marathon, or full marathon. Each Team EE runner pledges to raise $500 (8k), $750 (half marathon), or $1,000 (full marathon) by race day. This year, we were thrilled to cheer on six 8k runners and sixteen half marathoners! By the end of the race weekend, the 22 runners raised over $33,000! 

As in years past, Team EE was made up of a combination of veteran runners and exciting new additions. This year, EE was thrilled to have eleven runners from three US cities travel to Philadelphia to run with Team EE! Talk about dedication!

In a long-standing EE tradition, runners gathered for a pre-race dinner, generously hosted by Team EE committee chair Angela and her husband Gene Marx, the Friday night before race weekend. Everyone had an opportunity to meet each other as they partook in some mandatory carb loading. They also received their official Team EE performance shirt and goodie bags. 

As Emily said at the pre-race dinner, “running feels like the ultimate act of defiance against CF.” At EE, we are in the race of our lives and Team EE is made up of the people sprinting to get us to the ultimate finish line!
